Safety

Safety on the RIB

The Skipper has only three safety considerations. Your Safety, the Boats Safety and the Skippers Safety.

Minimum age 10 years.

The Safe conduct of your excursion from embarkation to disembarkation is of the utmost importance which we take extremely seriously. We will not jeopardise safety over any other consideration.

We start each voyage with a Safety Briefing before leaving Christchurch Harbour.

We carry safety equipment in excess of the legal requirements.

For your own safety it is compulsory to wear the lifejackets we provide for the duration of the expedition.

We advise that our guests wear warm windproof clothing and sensible footwear and in windy/wet conditions a waterproof jacket.

We always advise an extra layer of clothing as it is always cooler at sea than on land, even in the Summer, especially when traveling at speed.

Our Skippers are fully licensed to operate in the waters we are using and the RIB is fully insured. However personnel items of yours can not be insured and therefore extra care has to be taken of items such as cameras, mobile phones and personal belongings brought with you

No particular level of fitness is required however any boat traveling at speed (we can reach 30 knots) can experience unpredictable movements that can aggravate existing medical conditions. We will advise you the best we can however we are not medical experts, so the final decision as to whether or not to sail will be entirely at your own risk.

IMPORTANT: SENSATION travels fast over the sea. The sea is not usually flat and back injuries have been sustained on vessels of the type, therefore you are advised not to travel if you have back problems, bony injuries or are pregnant.
